When I was in Russia a number of years ago, everyone wanted to know if I was from Santa Barbara. If anyone told us that they wanted to move to the U.S. they usually had Santa Barbara in mind. This was due to the of the 1984 soap opera “Santa Barbara.” The TV show didn’t do so well here in the states but was enormously popular in Russia. Before last weekend I had never seen the show nor had I ever been to the city. We were fortunate enough to have an assignment there, and get away from the snow.

Yeah, I always want to say Santa Barbara with a Russian accent and a gleam in my eye just like they used to do back in the old country. I especially like the pics with the bright green moss.
